I met Marc Prensky when he came to speak at the University I was working at. His ideas are cool and is very well respected. Most people agree that this book is the one that sets the standards for game based learning

If you're interested in games that teach, you might want to check out Project Biohazard, which is a joint venture between Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center (Development), MIT's Comparative Media Studies program (Testing), and Microsoft (Moolah).

Biohazard is designed to teach fire-fighters, and other first responders, how to deal with a Weapons of Mass Destruction scenario. In this case, a serin gas attack. The whole thing uses the Unreal 2k3 engine.

Very nice blog
