wow; i've been trying to explain this to my companions for months, except that knitting is my new programming. using obsessive little elements to make a foxy finished project, and all the structures apply: do {this pattern} until hatLength == desiredLength. if {you want bunny ears} then {split in two} else {continue in one piece}.

i really need a hobby that won't contribute to myopia and sore wrists.

I just had a stroke of brilliance this morning. I'm in NYC right now and I want one of those really long narrow knitted scarves. I should pick out my new fav colors, (chocolate brown and pink) and get my 86yr old granny to knit one for me!!:)

hm, a website that teaches knitting? i learned the basics from my sister - it's a lot easier if someone shows you, i think, and watches you do it a little. but learn to knit has some good, clear black and white drawings and diagrams. they are a great resource for learning about different kinds and weights of yarns, needles, etc. also info about crochet.

Find a shop that sells yarn. They usually have classes. I just took a class for $5. to make the new trendy knit scarves. Easy to learn. Fast to make. Beautiful yarns to work with. About $20.00 invested in each scarf. About 3 to 4 hours of knitting.

there are also some good books that teach you how, I learned a few weeks ago with a friend, and we relied on STITCH AND BITCH... has some pretty snazzy patterns in it as well!

I learned how to knit from the internet. What I did was type "knit" into Google and click image search. That way you can pick the diagram that makes the most sense to you and you can look at diagrams of specific stitches like cables, garter, etc.. One year later, after looking through some books in knitting shops and whatnot, I can knit or crochet whatever I need. I haven't played games in a week and a half as I am now in the Christmas crunch. Knowing how to knit and crochet saves me a lot of money around the holidays but doesn't leave much play time.
