Austin Game Conference
The Austin Game Conference will be September 11-12 this year in the inimitable city of Austin. Raph Koster (Star Wars Galaxies) and Mark Jacobs (Dark Age of Camelot) will be giving keynote speeches, and a lot of other great people - Jessica Mulligan, Sheri Graner Ray, Mike McShaffry, Rich Vogel, many others - will be speaking. The focus - as you may have guessed from the glimpse of the line-up above - is online games. We're headed to the Tokyo Game Show later that month but maybe we'll stop over in Austin to visit friends at Ion and check out the conference. See you there? Ah, a note here. There is no "official" Machinima website. Machinima is a movement of people using 3D real-time environments to make films, not a company or product. More info can be found at the rather less FLash-driven http://www.machinima.com as well. (Note: I'm on the board of http://www.machinima.org - just wanted to make it clear that this isn't a proprietory technology or anything.) Posted by: Hugh Hancock on July 31, 2003 11:43 AMYou can link to more info on Mike McShaffry at ah! thank you for clearing that up, Hugh. and thanks for the info on Mike McShaffry! the book sounds very interesting. Posted by: jane on July 31, 2003 04:31 PMHey, I am going to be with one of the exhibitors at the Austin game conference. I find your gaming/society related articles relevant and interesting; if you can drop by I would love to have a chat with you. -Alfred Posted by: AlfredT on August 26, 2003 12:56 PMToo bad all of these conferences were too far for me to attend them :( But maybe some day I'll be able to go to some of them! Posted by: Pussy Cat on January 18, 2004 06:56 PMThere are other machinima websites. Craftingworlds.com has a website with machinima artists and How To's etc. ~poae Posted by: poae on December 1, 2006 08:53 PM
