Lounged and Arcaded
We'd heard over and over again that there aren't that many game developers in New York City, for a variety of reasons. So I consider us lucky to have been able to meet with as many as we have. Of course we were staying with the kids who are starting Invasiv Studios, because they are generous wonderful people we can have a lot of laughs with. At Halcyon we also met not only Seth, but Jason Schreiber, president of Powerhead Games; he took the photo of us interviewing Seth on camera. And now we're crashing with Eric "gameLab" Zimmerman. Every time we come to New York there's a steady increase of people and parties we want to check out. So much so that we've extended out stay by another day. And there's so much more to do. We haven't even gone shopping yet! I think I speak for Justin (and Andrew W.K.) when I say, "I! Love! New York City!" Hey guys -- it was SO good to meet you last night -- i hope you had a great time and i look forward to starting the party up again on the west coast. Your feedback was a kick in the pants to keep it going. Posted by: Seth on September 9, 2003 10:14 AMHmmm... I didn't realize NY had so few developers. Could you give me your suspected reason? The main reason why there's not a lot of developers in NYC at least probably has a lot to do with the cost of real-estate. Posted by: Bowler on September 9, 2003 12:38 PMthat doesn't explain why there are so many in San Francisco where real estate is also at a premium. Posted by: zaius on September 9, 2003 03:13 PMNew York City does rock. Posted by: Pedro on September 9, 2003 03:58 PMHalycon is a great little place - record shop in the back, coffee and DJs by day, drinks and DJs by night, big absurd wall full of cool decor stuff you can actually buy. I couldn't tell what kind of place I was in when I was there, but it didn't matter. Posted by: misuba on September 9, 2003 04:14 PMNYC is always the jolt I need when I'm feeling down. That city makes me feel alive. Posted by: Liz on September 9, 2003 05:34 PMnice to meet you two. i adore the site, colours are candy.
