Anne Tricky
My sister has been playing a lot - and I do mean a lot of SSX3. I've played it quite a bit too. But while I'm busy buying Kaori a tiara and a teddy-bear back-pack, Anne has pumped all her hard-earned cash into attributes. "How can you?" I say, somewhat perplexed. "Aren't you tempted to buy her new clothes?" Anne fixes a steely gaze on me. "Listen, Zoe came from a tough background. She's used to poverty. She's not going to waste her money on accessories. She wants to win." Roleplaying a racing game! I love it. Posted by jane at December 02, 2003 12:02 PM | TrackBackComments
SSX is the rad-est PS2 game ever, IMHO, because of the characters, the scene it creates, and ability to place your self there in that scene. Whenever anyone says that they hav no interest in video games, I always haul out SSX and even if they don't want to play, they always get into watching at some level. I've also been playing a lot of Need For Speed Underground, and I find the same to be true in many respects. Drewster Posted by: Drew on December 2, 2003 12:29 PMyep.. ssx3 has a nice vibe surrounding it, probably leveling up is a fun part too.. got myself some nice There have been a lot of great games nailing the vibe lately. True Crime did a great job of making you feel cool, driving around LA in your amped-up ride and kicking some baddie's butt. Def Jam Vendetta and Street Hoops also had great crunchy backstreet vibes. Hopefully NFL Street will as well. I sympathize... I'd rather buy the cool clothes than pump my character up with attributes too. That's probably why I prefer Kaori over Zoe... Posted by: wedge on December 3, 2003 01:23 PMI can see it. This doesn't count as role-playing so much, but I associate Zoe so much with MJ, that when i'm playing as Moby and go through one of the races, and Zoe and Moby banter as they pass one another, it feels like it's MJ doing the bantering. Crazy. Besides, the best stuff is earned by golding events. ;) Posted by: Jason on December 4, 2003 12:34 AMWhy did I let my self listen to you people! Now I'm addicted to this freaking game, and finals start on Monday! Oh, wait. I don't have finals. Nevermind, then. And by the way, Kaori's halo is like ten bazillion times cooler than that tiara, SO THERE! Posted by: ClockworkGrue on December 4, 2003 05:49 PMThere is a very nice forum for all SSX related stuff on MerquryCity.com: http://www.merqurycity.com/ssx_forum/index.php Included are: master video's for all versions, which you can download, a very good FAQ, and help from the best of the best on the planet. Some very pleasant folk, and frequented by some developers and others involved in making SSX, SSX Tricky and SSX 3. Highly recommended! Posted by: Ettepet on December 7, 2003 02:23 PMFor those just interested in the SSX 3 movie runs, you only need to look here: http://www.merqurycity.com/ssx_forum/viewtopic.php?t=386&start=0 If you're in need of money in SSX 3, and you like racing, you can download my 'Throne' movie run from there. This is by far the quickest way to make money, which I explain here: http://www.merqurycity.com/ssx_forum/viewtopic.php?p=8780#8780 Lots of fun!!! :-) Posted by: Ettepet on December 7, 2003 02:34 PMOh, back in the days of SSX, and then in Tricky, we constructed a story based upon the characters. (In the original, Hiro was the badguy, Jurgen and Zoe his lieutenants. In Tricky, Zoe had been brought over to the good guys by Moby, though he'd gotten rougher because of it, and now JP was trying to.... well, do something, we supposed.) I haven't played SSX3 yet, but with the lack of global touring, or a real villanous character, that seems gone. More's the pity.
