Gear for the GamerGirl
Valentine's Day is fast approaching (hint: it's february 14th, clueless one) and a geek girl's fancy turns to shiny pretty things... not diamonds, silly; DS! If you've got a special gamer girl in your life, or maybe if you're trying to woo one, we've got the sleek and the sexy, the silly and the sublime, to tickle her heart.
Some of these can be acquired through Amazon - if you choose to get them that way, we get a few cents! Happy shopping.
Draped in Witty Slogans For less expensive gift options, there are always t-shirts. Gamers love t-shirts - they are light and easy to wear, allowing freedom of movement for even the most rigorous gaming session, and the ironic logo showcases your wit. They're easy to size (come on, you know whether she's a S, M, or L, don't you? I mean it's not like you need her measurements) and easy to wrap - fold it up and put it in a decorative holiday bag with lots of tissue.
For the DIY-minded, get a plain, cute t-shirt in a pretty color, some iron-on letters from Dutch Trade Shop, and spell out your own message. Other inexpensive options for cool, smart gifts - a magazine subscription. BUST for the fun-loving, Bitch Magazine for the more serious-minded. For the self-taught handy-girl, ReadyMade. For the fashionista, Nylon. For the home designer, Dwell. I love all of these publications - you can't go wrong if you know a tiny bit about her taste. Also, check her mail (in a subtle way!!) to make sure she's not already getting these. Take it to the Next Level You're ready to get real now are you? Things heating up? It's time to advance, buddy. Ready for the ultimate gift? Well, I've done what I can. I've showed you the stuff that I would be thrilled to get. But everyone's different. Maybe all she wants is a comic book. But remember, the perfect gift doesn't have to be expensive or shiny or high-tech. You've heard it before but I'm going to say it anyway, because it's TRUE: it's the thought that counts. She'll love it more if you get her (or make her) something personal, something that shows her you've been paying attention to her personality, to her lifestyle, to her adorable quirks. Good luck, gentlemen. Posted by jane at February 07, 2005 01:19 AM Comments
