Gear for the GamerGirl vdaygiftlogo.jpgValentine's Day is fast approaching (hint: it's february 14th, clueless one) and a geek girl's fancy turns to shiny pretty things... not diamonds, silly; DS! If you've got a special gamer girl in your life, or maybe if you're trying to woo one, we've got the sleek and the sexy, the silly and the sublime, to tickle her heart.

Some of these can be acquired through Amazon - if you choose to get them that way, we get a few cents! Happy shopping.
Shiny Pretty Precious

ninds.jpg The DS. I have seen this, I have held this, but I do not HAVE this yet. WHY do I not have it? A complete mystery, to be remedied soon. I have to admit I don't like the design as well as the GBA SP, which fit so perfectly like a lovely little compact into my purse or pocket. Still, the dual screen action is pretty rad.
logitech.jpg The Logitech Wireless Controller for PS2. My baby just got this for me (early V-day gift I guess) and I LOVE it. It fits the hands very well, and it means I can actually sit on the couch instead of against the coffee table. All right, maybe it's not the most romantic of gifts, but it'll last a lot longer than red roses. I never liked roses much anyway.
miniipodpink.jpg miniipodsilver.jpg If you are SERIOUS about the girl - or seriously rich I suppose - these top the wishlist - I know they've topped mine since they debuted. For the Mini iPod though I wonder if I'm not just falling prey (once again) to great design. It's only 4 Gigs after all. Hm. But this could be that ultimate sweet romantic gesture - ESPECIALLY if you pre-loaded it with her favorite songs. Just like you did with mixed tapes in high school.

Draped in Witty Slogans

For less expensive gift options, there are always t-shirts. Gamers love t-shirts - they are light and easy to wear, allowing freedom of movement for even the most rigorous gaming session, and the ironic logo showcases your wit. They're easy to size (come on, you know whether she's a S, M, or L, don't you? I mean it's not like you need her measurements) and easy to wrap - fold it up and put it in a decorative holiday bag with lots of tissue.

Show her you admire her MIND with this awesome t-shirt from Busted. prosehos.jpg
Who doesn't love pirates? Guarranteed pleaser. Bundle this with the Pirates of the Carribbean DVD or, if she's vintage, with Ice Pirates. Man I would be psyched if someone got me those. pirates.jpg

For the DIY-minded, get a plain, cute t-shirt in a pretty color, some iron-on letters from Dutch Trade Shop, and spell out your own message.

Other inexpensive options for cool, smart gifts - a magazine subscription. BUST for the fun-loving, Bitch Magazine for the more serious-minded. For the self-taught handy-girl, ReadyMade. For the fashionista, Nylon. For the home designer, Dwell. I love all of these publications - you can't go wrong if you know a tiny bit about her taste. Also, check her mail (in a subtle way!!) to make sure she's not already getting these.

Take it to the Next Level

You're ready to get real now are you? Things heating up? It's time to advance, buddy. Ready for the ultimate gift?

titaniumvibe.jpg This is the Titanium Le Lynx vibrator. Look at the case! the attatchments! The titanium! This goes straight to the heart of sleek and sexy, satisfying a gamer girl's gear fetish as well as her, well, other desires.

Well, I've done what I can. I've showed you the stuff that I would be thrilled to get. But everyone's different. Maybe all she wants is a comic book. But remember, the perfect gift doesn't have to be expensive or shiny or high-tech. You've heard it before but I'm going to say it anyway, because it's TRUE: it's the thought that counts. She'll love it more if you get her (or make her) something personal, something that shows her you've been paying attention to her personality, to her lifestyle, to her adorable quirks.

Good luck, gentlemen. Posted by jane at February 07, 2005 01:19 AM | TrackBack
