Kane and Lynch and Babes
I just don't get what this has to do with the game. That's a very sloppy marketing job. Posted by jane at October 03, 2007 09:50 AM | TrackBackComments
Just a small point, but this is a Playboy ad sponsored by Kane & Lynch, not an ad for the game per se. I have no idea whether airbrushed glamour models form a part of the game or not, but I can imagine the marketing department involved probably jumped at the chance to advertise to the predominantly male audience that purchase shooter games, and didn't for a second consider the secondary effect of turning off an audience that might otherwise have been interested in a co-op game... Game marketing remains, I'm afraid, rather poor. Great to meet you in Austin the other week, and best wishes! Posted by: Chris on October 3, 2007 12:18 PM

Targeting their demographic with the eye catching ad maybe? Looks like an ad for porn. Posted by: Liz on October 4, 2007 08:16 AM
What does this have to do with the game at all? While it seems like Playboy is a smart choice for a marketing partner, it doesn't seem like they put any thought into actually leveraging the partnership to market the game. Instead what they have is a naked girl contest with their logo on it. Not only is it crass, but it doesn't work nearly as hard as a creatively executed partnership with playboy could. I more and more annoyed each time I visit IGN this week and see the ad plastered all over the place. It almost makes the site NSFW. Posted by: chadm on October 10, 2007 11:39 AM
