G4's Code Monkeys

From a Gamasutra article:

"Code Monkeys is the first animated comedy made specifically for today’s Xbox/iPod/YouTube generation and could only have come from a network that truly appreciates video games and technology," said G4 president Neal Tiles. "Whether they’re a gamer or not, the video game and technology references in Code Monkeys are something every guy will enjoy."

Because of course every guy likes video game and technology references!

And do girls? Who cares? This show isn't for them.

The New Sweatshops

Julian's written a great, fascinating story on the much-maligned Chinese gold farmers:

But as a matter of everyday practice, it is the farmers who catch it in the face. Consider, for example, a typical interlude in the workday of the 21-year-old gold farmer Min Qinghai. Min spends most of his time within the confines of a former manufacturing space 200 miles south of Nanjing in the midsize city of Jinhua. He works two floors below the plywood bunks of the workers’ dorm where he sleeps. In two years of 84-hour farming weeks, he has rarely stepped outside for longer than it takes to eat a meal. But he has died more times than he can count. And last September on a warm afternoon, halfway between his lunch and dinner breaks, it was happening again.

Crafting for Child's Play Auction

Crafters, knitters, seamstresses and tailors! You can make something to raise money for Penny-Arcade's Child's Play charity auction.

Right now there is a plan to make a giant blanket, but if you have other items in mind that you'd like to contribute, I think you might be able to. I'd love to make a scarf with 8-bit art on it!

There's a blog about the effort: We Craft IRL. Now's a great time to get started, all items must be received by the end of November.

I've enjoyed:
