What is the Zine?

July, 2003

The zine section is an experiment. It will be something like a literary journal, published on a quarterly basis. Feel free to me more daring with the stuff you submit to it. Got a comic strip about games? Some art? A poem? A short story? A t-shirt you designed with a videogame theme?

The very first issue was "Play", and you can see here: www.gamegirladvance.com/zine. Although I'm extremely happy with how it turned out, it shouldn't be thought of as a model, because every issue will be driven by new factors, new ideas, new approaches.

I'm suggesting themes to get us started, but they are really very general and shouldn't be too strictly adhered to. The theme for next quarter is Theory. (No, I'm not sure exactly what that means yet either. Do you have a, er, theory?) We're also looking for an artist to design the cover and any other incidental art you might want to submit would be greatly appreciated as well.

Please submit your ideas for consideration by August 15th; drafts will be required by Augist 30th. Thank you!

I've enjoyed:
